About
This blog has been set up to monitor and document the dangerous situation of our children's bus stop at the intersection of Lake Washington Blvd and 32nd Ave E. We have witnessed stopped traffic blocking the intersection, cars cutting in front of the school bus when its lights are flashing and vehicles travelling far too quickly as they try to speed over the hill to the south
This intersection is a difficult intersection at the best of times:
This intersection is a difficult intersection at the best of times:
- South of the junction, 32nd Ave E is plagued with terrible sight lines at the top of a very steep descent into the heart of Madison Valley.
- East of the junction, Lake Washington Blvd winds up a tree-lined hill with poor visibility.
- West of the junction, Lake Washington Blvd meets East Madison Street at a stoplight, often backing up traffic through 32nd up the hill toward 33rd
- North of the junction is a narrow street through which only one lane of traffic may usually pass, due to parking on both sides. Also, this street has a fire station, which one of the reasons why the intersection has a fire signal, not a true traffic light.
- Lake Washington Blvd is considered an arterial which is effectively uncontrolled at this point in order to keep traffic moving. 32nd Ave E has a stop sign to the North and South.
