One of the biggest hazards of this intersection is the extremely steep angle at which 32nd Ave E meets Lake Washington Blvd E. Cars climbing 32nd Ave E north towards the intersection cannot be seen by vehicles at the top of the hill.
Examples of the typical logjam in which cars blocking the intersection can obstruct fire trucks leaving Seattle FD Station 34. (Yes, this is the same car, demonstrating the same blocking technique, two days later.)
8:14AM, April 26 So the City of Seattle says that it can't put a four-way stop or a full set of traffic lights here because there's already a fire signal above this intersection.
